Election and Nominations 2009

Ideally we would have preferred to have nominations done in August and elections done in November as recommended. When it can't be done on that schedule, it still needs to be done as soon as possible. We have enough nominations to fill all the officer and director seats up for election. We gave another chance for others to jump in, as required by the By-Laws. It's common that volunteer positions with responsibility are not contested after the minimum number of seats have volunteers for them.

The goal is to elect people for the following positions:

  • President (2010 term)
  • Vice President (2010 term)
  • 2 directors (2010-2011 term)

List of Nominees

Nominations closed at 23:59 Pacific Time on Saturday, December 26, 2009.

Name Position
Craig Anderson President 2010
TR Fullhart Vice President 2010
John Delaney Director 2010-2011
Heather Stern Director 2010-2011

Other positions not up for election

The following positions on the Board of Directors are not up for election:

  • Treasurer, currently held by Warren Turkal - to be elected by the Board of Directors in January
  • Secretary, currently held by Ian Kluft - to be elected by the Board of Directors in January
  • Director 2009-2010, Bill Dale - 2-year term continues to 2010
  • Director 2009-2010, Mark Whittington - 2-year term continues to 2010

The position of "Immediate Past President" (IPP) in 2010 is reserved for the current president, Craig Anderson (President 2009). If Craig is re-elected president for 2010, the current holder of the IPP seat (Heather Stern, President 2007-2008) will not be re-elected with him. That would create a vacancy for a 1-year term on the Board of Directors which would be filled by appointment of the President and approval of the Board of Directors. If that happens, it's another opportunity to serve on the Board of Directors if you're interested - be sure to speak up!

Candidate qualifications

In order to run or hold an officer or director position, you must be a member of the non-profit corporation. (All the current members are listed on that page.) You must also be a member of the corporation in order to vote in the election.

How do you become a member of the corporation? Express interest in it. If you're involved in at least one SIG of SBAY, and interested in the wider SBAY community, that's good enough to qualify. You can be nominated for membership by any 3 members, any SIG, or the Board of Directors. Once nominated the membership can vote you in as a member.
